Heard it on the radio

June 17, 2014
There are three songs that play every day, without fail, on the radio station my office mates and I listen to. One of them is predictable, so I'm going to give you a second to guess it...

The dad he didn't have to be

I always said Brock would be the first of my siblings to have a kid. For some reason I had always pictured fatherhood being plied upon him on the tails of an adolescent mistake. Maybe it just seemed like the fitting natural evolution of a mischievous middle child who had earned the nickname "Dennis the Menace" by doing things like dumping an industrialized size ice cream container full of brown sugar over his head, building a perfect little teepee fire on my parents' bedroom floor and...

The support and encouragement they have contributed has been a determining factor in how I've turned out. I am saddened to say that I have largely taken them, and the time I've had with them, for granted...

So there's this guy in one of my classes. We randomly sat beside each other on the first day and we've been talking for months now. Recently, in typical fashion he asked me if I had any hot date plans for the weekend and instead of replying with my usual sarcasm, I kind of complained about the fact that I don't tend to get asked out very often... at all...
